The sheet lead we make is of high quality and meets strict European standards and guidelines.
CE mark
Most of our range of sheet lead carries the CE mark; a European marking, indicating compliance with applicable EU directives. The basis of these regulations is NEN-EN 14783 “Fully supported steel sheet and strip for roofing, cladding elements”. The CE marking does not apply to all our sheet lead; only to thicknesses from 1.25 mm.
Implementing this new regulation, “Construction Products Regulation (CPD),” requires us, among other things, to provide a “Declaration of Performance (DOP),” which we make available digitally via a QR code.
NEN-EN 12588
The European Standard, abbreviated EN, is prepared under the direction of the European standards organization CEN in Brussels. The European lead sheet industry introduced an EN standard in 2007. This EN standard 12588 (Lead and lead alloys – Rolled lead sheet for application in construction) describes the rules on quality, composition and properties of our lead. In addition, it describes how to handle sheet lead in the working environment. The standard also contains specific instructions for manual lifting. Furthermore, an assessment of changing market needs has been made. The current EN standard is a common standard for all European sheet lead producers and guarantees consistent and reliable product quality. The standard for lead sheet describes, among other things, tolerances on thickness as well as chemical composition.
NEN-EN 14783
This 2013 European standard specifies the terminology, requirements and test methods for metal coils, strips, flat sheets and factory-made pieces intended for fully supported applications in roofing and cladding or cladding. The following requirements apply to sheet lead:
- Nominal (minimum) thickness: 1.25 mm
- Permeability (permeability): requirements met
- Fire behavior: class A1 without control met
- Behavior in case of fire from outside: requirements of classes B roof met without control
- Durability: uncoated rolling lead or coated rolling lead
- Dimensional changes: 29.3 x 10-6 K-1
